The University of Mannheim offers first-rate bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. Numerous university rankings confirm the high quality of the programs available. The University of Mannheim regularly achieves top positions in both national and international rankings for its programs in the fields of Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Romance Studies, History, English and American Studies, German Studies, and Business Informatics.

Excellent study conditions at the University of Mannheim

The University of Mannheim has, once again, been ranked highly in the latest university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education (CHE). Its programs in Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Business Administration and Law, are regularly ranked excellent. The degree programs at the School of Humanities have received top grades in the main category “organization of studies” and for its services for first-year students.

University of Mannheim is Germany’s best university in Economics and Business Administration

In the current “QS World University Ranking by Subject 2025”, the University of Mannheim has climbed 45 places to reach 91st place worldwide in the “Social Sciences and Management” category. The university achieves particularly strong results in business and economics: it is ranked first in Germany in accounting and finance, second in business and management studies and third in economics and econometrics. In political science and psychology (the latter in the category “Life Sciences”), it achieves a shared fourth place, and a shared fifth place in sociology.

Top result in the economic and social sciences

According to the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking by Subject, the University of Mannheim ranks third among all German universities in the economic and social sciences. In worldwide comparison, the University of Mannheim ranks 57th in social sciences subjects and 43th in business and economics subjects. Moreover, the University of Mannheim ranks 75th in psychology worldwide.

Excellence in the field of social sciences, business and economics

In the 2024 “Global Ranking of Academic Subjects” by Shanghai Ranking, the University of Mannheim is positioned among the top three German universities in two out of 14 fields within the social sciences category. Nationally, the university holds the second position for political science and has advanced nine spots to reach 35th place globally. The institution ranks among the top three universities in Germany for the field of finance. Within the field of communication science, the university earned the fourth spot nationally and the 40th position worldwide. Mannheim is also positioned fourth for management and fifth for sociology among German institutions.
